What is Best Line?

Not all lines are created equal. The same player prop can be a great number in one place and a trap in another.

Best Line is the softest number available for the same prop across PrizePicks, Underdog, and traditional sportsbooks. "Softest" means the number that gives you the most room relative to the projection.

Same prop, different numbers

Platforms build lines differently. PrizePicks and Underdog set static numbers designed to attract balanced Over/Under action. Sportsbooks adjust theirs throughout the day based on money flow. That's why the same "A'ja Wilson rebounds" prop can be 9.5 in one place and 10.5 in another at the same moment.

How GameDayLocks picks the Best Line

  • For Over recommendations: the lowest number available. Less to clear.
  • For Under recommendations: the highest number available. More cushion.
  • For odds-based props (soccer anytime goal, etc.): the price with the highest implied edge vs the model.

Why this beats picking a single platform

Loyalty to one app costs you. On a slate with 30 props, comparing every line can find half a dozen spots where the softer number is a full point better — and that gap compounds over a season.

Same-line situations

Sometimes every platform is at the exact same number. That's not a bad thing — it means the market agrees, and your edge comes entirely from the model. Prop Compare will still flag which side the model likes and by how much.
